MASS AND ACADEMY DEDICATED TO ST. FRANCIS XAVIER
On the feast of St. Francis Xavier, patron saint of missions and one of the great Jesuits, we invite you to join us for Holy Mass and a commemorative academy at St. James. The Mass will be presided over by Fr. Miran Žvanut, Provincial, and the homily will be given by Fr. Cipriano Díaz Marcos (Spanish Province), Regional Assistant for Southern Europe.
After Mass, we will listen to selected passages from the life, missionary work, and letters of St. Francis Xavier, which reveal his deep love for Christ, the Church, his Jesuit brothers, and all the people he encountered on his journeys. The narration will be interwoven with sacred vocal music.
The programme will be presented by:

ABOUT ST. FRANCIS XAVIER
- one of the greatest missionaries of the Church; preacher in India, Malaysia, and Japan;
- a man of remarkable simplicity, courage, and ardent love for God;
- he served the sick, cared for the poor, defended the oppressed, and catechized children and adults;
- he died on 3 December 1552 off the coast of China;
- his letters and example have inspired countless missionaries throughout the world.
